Last night I dreamt of a sweet and enjoyable moment. In my dream they called it “Sleeping”. It has been a year since I started polyphasic sleep, (WTF? It has been a year?) and I have 22 hours a day. But what happened? What will happen?
At first I just wanted to try it, you know it was amazing to have more time in a day. After one month I decided to do it for as long as I can (the worst or maybe the best choice of my life).
You may say that it is impossible, hey man, the word itself says i’m possible. Yes I am not on a full energy and sometimes I cant do what I want because my body wont listen. Jeez. But you should sacrifice yourself for victory? (WTF?)
So what is it? What is polyphasic sleep?
According to Wikipedia: “polyphasic sleep refers to sleeping multiple times – usually more than two.” (Actually I sleep 6 times a day). There are different types of polyphasic sleep like: Uberman, monophasic, biphasic, everyman, dymaxion. The hardest is the uberman and the easiest is the everyman. (Im a uberman sleeper)
How does it work?
Uberman sleep cycle, you should sleep 2 hours a day or sometime less than that. You should take a 20-min nap every 4 hour. For me (the uberman sleeper) at the first it was actually or nearly impossible, I asked my mom and my brother to help me. The first 24 hour was nothing at all, easy peasy, After that I became a ZOMBIE, believe me I mean it. I couldn’t focus, I couldn’t move my body the way I wanted, and I ate a lot of food in that day. The third day was just like the second one, a pure hell. But in the fourth day I began to control it, whenever I wanted to take a nap I just closed my eyes and then thought about food or something good, tada I fell asleep. In the fifth day my tiredness gone, and I learned how to calm my muscles (amazing, huh). After the first week I was all by myself. I could do it just with me and my alarm. Believe me it is not gonna work if you don’t use alarm.
The side effects:
As far as I know just the uberman has some side effects. If you over do it your memory will burst(huh?). No kidding it is bad for memory and they say it will cause Alzheimer in younger age. But for the other types of polyphasic sleep, there is not any bad one. ( there is but you can deal with it ). I myself found a trick to just avoid Alzheimer, on a special day I will sleep all day long. Doesn’t matter what will happen I just close my eyes and sleep. Once a week actually. So this is how I survived during this experiment. I wont say other side effects because they were nothing bad for me but you know you should do it yourself and find it. There is no fun in that if I tell you now.
The best for you:
Everyman is the best. I may change into that after my graduation. I don’t know you (you know yourself better than anyone, btw) so choose a one and do it. Don’t be ridiculous it is not gonna kill you if you do it correctly and don’t give up on the first week and I promise you will get along like I did.
Just Don’t go out for the first week, you just look like a zombie and you may lose your friends.
Why did I do that: I was Curious. Yeah baby just that. I wanted something new I tried it than liked it. And in my free time I did everything I could ( except sport), I read many books, watched many movies, and learned another language and I even had more time. I can do whatever I want now plus whenever I want.
After this experience the day and night lost their meaning for me. I just found myself alone but I liked it (im alone now, btw). Polyphasic sleep is a double-edged sword it takes something than gives you something. Bad, huh?
What do you think about it? Do you want to try it? Share your thoughts with me.
